Got a Savage 110 in 270 Win that I’m rebarreling to 6mm Remington. I’m about to order the barrel and can’t make my mind up on the twist. The lightest bullets I shoot are 55 gn Nosler BT and the heaviest are 90 gn partitions. Was thinking about an 8 inch twist, but most of my shooting will be towards the lighter bullets.

I have a Remington 700 in 6mm that I use for deer hunting and use the heavier bullets in it.

Personally, I would go with the 8. That will allow you to shoot the heavies... obviously. I'm not exactly sure about the 55s but you can get down in the 70s and still have no issues. I've went down to 75s with my 6x55 Swede 8twist with no issues.
Good luck with your build!

My 8 twist .243 does not like the lighter bullets as much as my 9.25 Axis does. Think I would go in the 9 range...

One of the biggest blunders Remington ever made was putting slow twist barrels on an otherwise excellent cartridge.
Had they not done that, the 6mm Rem would probably have been more popular than the 243 because it is a better performer with the proper twist and the heavier bullets.
As for using the lighter ones, why not just use a 22/250?

Food for thought... my Rem 700 6mm (factory barrel), shoot 55 Gn Nosler BT in less than one inch groups at 100 yards. I’ve chronographed them at 4012 fps. I believe it has a 1 in 9 twist.
