so after some discussion i traded for this rifle and added the
6-24x vortex with a 30mm tube on a egw base burris signature rings with 20 moa lr tilt in the rings.
i worked up a load with fed brass, fed primer, vit n140 powder and lapua 185 fmjbt bullets
shot a 10 shot ladder, some 3 shot groups based on the ladder, then a couple of 5 shot groups.
all was good. i did a seating depth test of on the lands and then 5,10,15 and 20 off.
the minus .010 shot just over 0.3.
i loaded up a bunch, shot some at 200, still good, and went to 600 yards.
once i got the elevation correct i was able to put shots inside the 3" x ring of the f class target.
THE WORLD IS GREAT!
so good i wanted to screw it all up and add a suppressor..silly me.
so off comes the bbl , threaded, adapter added, and back out to the range.
all was ok at 200. the shot moved an inch left, but pressure came up just enough to be too much.
so back to the drawing board. i have done a new ladder, new three shot groups and now getting ready to do a seating test.
the bad news is i am at just over 1/2 moa. not the .3 i had when i started.
so much for improving a good thing.

so with the early data plus the last ladder,
i shot 5 three shot groups. each was .005 shorter
than the prior starting with an at the lands number.
used the powder load that looked best without pressure.
in the end .010 and .015 off shot best, but .015 showed a little pressure
as it had more bullet in the case.
so next up is to shoot those 2 with 5 shot groups, plus maybe some with a 1/10 or 2 less
powder, again because of more bullet in the case.

back to the range
shot
-.010 and -.015 off with a couple of loads.
1x brass fl sized w/neck bushing
4 of the 5 had flyers
1.4 for 40.9 at -.015
i may reshoot this with some lapua brass
or maybe the same issue as the 300 win mag.
when less than max loads inconsistent ignition.
