Don't know too much about shotguns but recently bought an old Savage Model 30 12 G at auction with the idea of doing it up. I've not fired it yet because I've noticed that with the barrel off and the action forward it seems there is only a spring like a Biro spring between the slide and bolt and the bolt can wobble about. Like I've said, I don't know too much about these things but I value my hands and face so would like to know if this is correct or is there something missing which holds the bolt more secure to the slide ? It seems to lock up nice and tight with the barrel on and action forward but I don't want to waste my time working on this gun if there are parts missing as it's gonna be a pain getting them to England from the US. What do you guys think ?

Thanks for that, looks like parts 1, 2 and 3 are missing from mine....not surprising the bolt is flopping around then.

Parts are available on E Bay, and Numrich gun parts!

Getting them shipped, may be a problem, like you said!!

Trouble is that from the diagram in the link I can't see what the missing bits are called or even what they look like...If I could see what they look like it would probably be easier for me to make them than have them shipped as Numrich won't ship outside the US. Is there anyone out there who's got a Model 30 who could take a look at their gun and maybe even take a picture of the missing parts between the bolt and slide ? It's a big ask but I live in hope ;)
