Long term oil/grease for storage

Hello everyone I'm on a hunt for a oil or grease for all guns to apply after being fully disassembled and clean then will be put back into the cabinet or safe for storage for the foreseeable future. This isn't a hunt for a lubricant I'm just looking for something that's not cosmoline type of a hassle I don't mind a little removing of substances but not a full on deep clean just to shoot the gun. That has the best long term rust prevention.

Kroll oil seems to work well. Be carefull loading a barrel up with oil then leaving the gun standing barrel up.
Sensitive triggers are easily contaminated.

I'd be more apt to use grease and Hornady One Shot as opposed to oil. Oil seems to not stay in place long enough and likes to migrate to places it shouldn't be. About any quality grease will do. I use Mobil One Synthetic grease most of the time, but a lot of the other high quality gun greases (RIG etc) should work well. One Shot goes on liquid and leaves a very good film, in my experience, that doesn't run off like oil.

I've had good luck with Frog Lube as a long term storage protectant as well.

Thanks for the replies guys I think I'mma try horandy one shot. I found a write up about tests and wd40 specialist extended rust protection and horandy one shot did the best long term in a salt bath but that's not regular air. http://www.dayattherange.com/?page_id=3667

I have switched to using nothing but one shot on all my guns. I am really happy with it and have had zero issues with corrosion.

I just used the regular oil. (the thick semi-fluid green stuff) not the thinner clear cleaner/oil.

I shake the bottle to make it easier to remove from the bottle. squeeze some on to a gauze pad and spread onto metal, wood....you name it. If the metal is warm it seems to soak in to the metal and season it similar to a cast iron skillet.

Can't wait to store my cast iron boom sticks. Tired of oiling every gun I and my father owns 4 times a year because we live in the rust belt

If they are going to be put up for a long time and I won't be handling them I spray mine down with the Corrosion X in the green can.

Thanks - that's a great test!

Overall winner was Hornady 1-shot. Excellent lube and stand-out corrosion protection. WD-40 Specialist was right there for corrosion protection, but not lubrication.

I need to get some.
