I have purchased a Savage Sporter in .25-20 Winchester and it has been quite a bit of fun to shoot. The rear sight was way off to the left but a bit of careful tapping got that corrected. The bore was in really good shape and the factory Remington loads I have been shooting group well at the thirty yards I am working with. They chronograph at 1039 FPS which is slower than I anticipated but not an issue as I reload.

The replacement magazine it came with fit very loosely and would not feed well unless I held it just right. I bought a rear magazine guide form Numrich and it fit right in. Now though the feeding issue is worse and it is really a single shot type of action right now. I will continue to tinker with it until I get it right. I do like the possibility of shooting spitzer type bullets although I have purchased several hundred lead Misters to start with.

I'll try to add some photographs later.

Fun little rifles! I picked one up several years ago. Probably need to shoot it more. Came with a Lyman peep. No issues feeding. Got one in .22 Hornet, too.
