Well...one is old because they only used that date code system from 1949-69 as the thread title clearly indicates. As for the serial number letter prefix, you're more than welcome to call Savage and try to get the more recent information out of them, but they'll likely tell you to go pound sand as that's considered privileged internal information since ATK/Vista took over the reigns.
