Just picked up an Axis II and was looking to replace the barrel with .260 Rem AI varmint barrel. Looking for advice as to which stock suggestions that utilize center feed magazines. Rifle will be used mostly for hunting.

Thanks.

Check out Boyd's...they will have many styles that will utilize the OEM detachable magazine.

Boyds is about the only game in town for a wood or synthetic stock for an Axis. With a varmint barrel you'll be looking at one of the AT-One stocks or the Pro-Varmint as the forends other patterns are narrower for sporter weight barrels. You'll probably have to open the barrel channel up to accommodate your barrel, but that's easy work with an appropriately sized wooden dowel wrapped with course sandpaper.

A couple companies offer chassis type stocks for them, but they're pricey and not ideal for hunting IMO.

Will a stock from another short action work such as model 10 with my axis?
