With the stock off, I can adjust the accu trigger to the lightest setting, run the bolt and bang the barreled action around without a problem. When I install the action back in the stock and snug the action screws, I can run the bolt and bang the rifle around without problems. When I torque the action screws, and pull the trigger the sear won't reset.

If I put a couple of turns into the accu trigger trigger spring or don't torque the action screws, all is okay.

I have had Savage rifles that won't hold the sear on with the accu trigger set too light but it did it with the action out of the stock.

I can't seem to see what is causing the problem.

any help would be appreciated

Is it a stock spring? You haven’t tried clipping it? That does sound strange. Like the the spring at lightest setting setting isn’t providing adequate preload by a couple thousandths when the action screws torqued. You could try stretching the spring just a little. Won’t change the weight, only preload weight.

Does that stock have pillars.

The rear of the accu-trigger just below the adjustible spring may be contacting the stock right above the rear trigger guard screw. Dremel out some material so the stock does not push up on the rear of the Accu-trigger when you tighten the rear action screw which is tripping the sear. I’ve had this problem with a couple of Savage stocks over the years.
