So I was going through the safe and came across a Stevens 200 chambered in 7mm-08 that I've had for a few years.

Probably had less than a box of ammo through it.

I've been thinking of buying a 450 Bushmaster, but now thinking of re-barreling this Stevens.

Any other changes that I would need to make?

After going with a new barrel, trigger and stock - it might not be much more expensive to just go with a new rifle - but I'm trying to weigh all my options.

I chambered a 458 socom. 116flss Action. The problem I had is feeding. I ended up customizing a .308 centerfeed blind mag. It feeds spitzer bullets fine, RN and FN not so much. A real gunsmith could probably make it work. It shoots well and the recoil isn’t bad at all. I shelved it though.

I think the Bushmaster is a better cartridge. The bullet selection of the .452 is much better. I had the .458 diameter barrel, otherwise I would have gone with the Bushmaster.

Good to know. I've been toying with the idea of building a bolt action 450 Bushmaster on a long action.

.450 Marlin would make a cool bolt gun round. I’ve seen a few on the web. So would 45 Raptor.

45/70 bolt gun conversions are not for the faint of heart though. Agree that it’s best to find a good lever gun or single shot for that one.

Yep, I would go with the Marlin too. .458 Win Mag would be my second choice.
