Early 1907 .380 1913-1914 Prod

Here is a high polished finished specimen of the very early .380 Savage 1907's Modification No 2 one of 4400 produced between 1913 and 1914. This one obviously was a sleeper in a dresser drawer for many many years basically no real wear on it. A couple of atractors of the pistol are the case colored trigger and very distinct trademark on the Indian's headband on the grips. When you find a Savage pistol with very legible trademark inscription on the grips that's an indicator of the condition of the overall pistol as original, you would expect the wear on the grips to match the finish of the pistol. Another nice feature on this one is that the chamber loaded indicator is still intact, this was a very fragile element of the early Savage pistols during that time period and they quite often broke, this one is still intact. Very nice specimen, have one just like it in the same caliber 6159B.

A long time ago I had taken a parts pistol down and threw the cocking indicator on Ebay and it blew my mind when it ended for over $100 for such a small little piece but like you said they break easy and aren't reproduced. I think a gun parts store would make a fortune if they took the time to reproduce a piece like that.
