Thinking about 12LRPV left port with 1 in 7 twist. Anyone with actual experience using 90 gr Bergers? Will be shooting @ 1000yds. My 1 in 9 twist will shoot Berger 75's @ 1000 w/ 13" groups. Hoping to improve on that.
According to JBM, I will pickup 120fps @1000.

I shot them in a 1:7 twist.
Never at a distance just trying them out to see how they grouped. They actually shot
about 3/8" groups and was one of the more accurate bullets I used in that rifle.
I also loaded 52 gr amaxes and they shot super tight too.

From what I understand in the 223 the 90 grainers have no benifit over the 80 grainers, IE the extra speed of the 80 grainer matches the higher BC of the 90 grainer.

If you are going to try it, I would try RL17 or one of the new Alliant pro power powders. The pro power powder is a ball powder so you should be able to get more powder in the case.

According to my calcs, the 90's still pickup 80fps @ 1000yds over the 80's (and that is pushing the 80's real hard, by the way I am using RL 15). I just really wanted to see if the 7 twist WOULD spin them. Thanks for the info. I would like additional opinions.
