I first put these in aftermarket stocks and gave some explanation but this may be the more appropriate area. Hope I am not taking up too much space with the duplication.
Quickly the top photo is English walnut, the next down is American Black Walnut out of a fence row in NW Indiana, the third and bottom are Claro Walnut. All but the Ruger No. 1 are Richard Microfit Stocks, exhibition grade, no color added except the bottom has Herters French Red. The bottom two, Savage Muzzleloaders with .45 aftermarket barrels, decelerator pads and SSS (the excellent SharpShooterSupply) Fred Moreo triggers.
My daughters use the interrupted fluted barrel ML. If one gets the Richards stocks they come rough and need a great deal of work, better do it yourself or it could get time consuming and pricey.

Love seeing guns with highly figured wood, especially if it's a Savage.

Been gone for awhile so no response. I never mind using them while hunting. They are hunting tools expected to work in the field. I do not abuse them but if they get dinged up I finished them so I can just touch them up as needed or in the worst case could start over.

A gun not hunted is like a pretty nun.

Besides, when you sit out waiting and listening it gives you something to admire.

My grouse centerfire is an Ithaca/SKB 200-E 20 gauge. If I could find anything as nice to replace it I couldn't afford it. Nothing cooler than a double with auto-ejectors. ;-).

Bluing worn mostly off the receiver, dings and dents in the wood, but it has gone hundreds of miles in my hands, has beautiful walnut and I love it. (Three sets of double barrels with it: Sk1/Sk2, IC/M, M/F). Unfortunately the only good images I had of it are (were) on Photobucket and I refuse to pay their ransom tip get access back. Reminds me I need some images of it.
