Savage 22-250 not ejecting cases

I put a bigger detent ball in and filed the ejector to make it stick out farther. It still won't eject the cases. It has a brass extractor. I called savage to get a new extractor, but the wouldn't sell me one, because the gun has been modified. Does anybody have an extractor I can try? I talked to Fred at SSS and he said he would build me a new bolt head, but I want to try a different extractor first.

How old is that rifle? A few years back a lot of people were having problems with that brass extractor. (acually silicon bronze, not brass), Check under the lip that grabs the cartridge case, It may have some material from the casting process under there that neds to be cleaned out. Other than that you probably need a new extractor. Other than Savage I have no idea whre you can get one.

I bought one from midway last week. BTW, there is one for 223 size bolt head, and one for all others. Just a few bucks... Bill
