I forgot about a place called Gorman ranches. A little sw of dfw. Not sure what the connection is but one of the guys from swfa promotes this place and they seem to run a good outfit. Their email is GormanRanches@gmail.com, Matt is the guy to talk to. I think they run about $400 a man for a weekend hunt. Another one to look at would be boxroutfitters. They are a little cheaper, have a ton of hogs, and decent lodging. Both places aren’t going to be 5 star places but they provide a solid hunt.

Yes sir! Turkey season opens April 6 here in OK. Turkey hunting is by far and hands down my favorite hunting. Stalking, calling, team work (I call, my son shoots)......I LOVE IT!!!

I miss turkey hunting. Grew up with thousands of acres to hunt in New Mexico but since I’ve moved to Texas I’ve been missing out. Good luck on the gobblers!! I get just as much enjoyment in calling them as I do shooting

Here in Saskatchewan they are considered an invasive species and are open season. Hogs are a very smart animal. They’ll never return to anywhere,no matter how much bait is left for them,if they’ve been shot at. If you’re able to run surpressed thats the way to go.
Sadly hunting them even when it’s a permanent open season barely makes a dent in their numbers. Here in Saskatchewan feral hogs originate from the massive hog farms we’ve got. They are escaped bacon.
Well good luck on your hunt. Wild bacon is truly a treat.

Smart yes, never come back, while they may stay away for a bit, here in Texas they will come back. Great sense of smell. I like that we can hunt the, all year around, but need to trap them if you want to make a dent in them, but that is a small dent.

I love hams and sausage, but they never have enough belly fat for bacon.

I don't really hunt much other than dove hunt. I might if hogs were in my area. Here in Alabama, like other states, hogs are causing problems in some areas. What baffles me is why Alabama does not allow hunting them as well as coyotes at night. I think perhaps you can get permission, but it shouldn't have to be that way. Just my 2 cents.

Looks like you guys in Texas need to get busy..... Kill 70% of them a year to even make a dent..

Hilarious! 40mm cannon (that's 1.6" diameter) with 400 grains of powder! Impressive.

I lived in Georgia for 62 years prior to ending up in Maine. Hogs are a plague there and I lived near them but never hunted them; I just have no excuse. There are none up here. My friend use to hunt them just a few miles from my home and I had hunted there extensively for deer, etc, back in the 1960s. My view is that they can multiply much faster than hunters can kill them.
