Can anyone help me with a model number for a recoil pad that can be fitted to a 340?

Used to be that I would just take my old recoil pad in with me to the sporting goods store and just make sure the screw holes match and the new pad was slightly larger than the old pad if I did not just get lucky and find a match.

Thanks in advance.

Easiest thing to do is stand the rifle upright on a piece of paper and then trace the back end of the buttstock. With it traced out, you can then trim it down slightly oversize, lay it back over the buttstock and mark the hole locations. Then you can take that with you to the sporting goods store.

If ordering online the best thing to do is measure the width and length of your buttstock then comparing those measurements with the manufacturers measurements.

I found a couple templates that can be printed out. Ill try that next.

The template idea was failsauce.

Pachmayr has small, medium and large. The small has the holes in the wrong spots so it looks like maybe a medium and just sand the heck out of it because it is a fair bit oversize.

It looks like the Pachmayr F325 might work. I am going to try one of these.

If hole spacing is the issue you can drill out the existing holes to say 3/8", glue in some hardwood dowel rod to fill, then drill new holes where needed.

Turns out the instructions from Pachmayr say this very thing, it actually recommends not using the same screw holes as is.

Thank you.

Check out Kickeez recoil pads. They offer a lot of pre-fit pads as well as over sized recoil pads that you then sand down to shape. I've used those in the past with good success.
