So this week I tried my first attempt and bedding my stock... so far so good. I used Devcon, taped everything and after 24 hours the receiver popped loose. Next phase is cleanup and I can see a lot of Devcon got in between the bolt and the pillar (in the pillar hole/channel.

should I clean the Devcon out? The screw can get in and tighten the receiver down, but is that going to put stress on the screw when firing that the lug should be absorbing? Should the pillar channel be completely clear?

Clean it or drill it out. A pillar is for a screw and nothing else.

Devcon is no thread locker and for action screws normally you don't use thread locker

Thanks!

not using Devcon as a thread locker, was just unsure of the bolt’s ability to move laterally... was worried that recoil would put stress on the threads and screw. You confirmed my initial suspicions... thanks!

I agree, I would not want the epoxy to influence the location of the action.

You definitely want to drill out your pillars and let the action screws float!!

Advice was good. Glad you popped it right out. It is a PITA if it doesn't.

It's always been real simple for me to remove JB Weld from the action screw holes. A small screwdriver just popped it out.

I threw a bit on my drill and ran it through from the receiver side. Cleaned it out no problems or damage to the new bedding.

Thanks everyone!!!!

For future...

Q-tip to apply your release agent inside and top/bottom of the pillars after degreasing them, being careful not to get any on the outside where they need to bond.
