Found this excellent 114 American Classic, in near new condition, so I bought it, as I have been looking for one for some time, and this one has excellent walnut. It is chambered in 270 Win

I see 114 blued for sale occasionally, see fewer 114 in stainless, but I very rarely see the 114 in SS Fluted barrel. I cannot find the stainless fluted in any of the catalogs. It appears that there was a limited production run of 114 Stainless fluted barrel? Does anyone know how many of this variant were produced?

She's a purdy girl for sure, will look even better once the Leupold glass arrives. Looking forward to spending some time at the range to see if she dances as nice as she looks.

Nice find! I picked one up in 30-06 a few years ago. Absolutely my favorite rifle! I have sold a couple other rifles since acquiring this one knowing full well this is my hunting rifle from now on and the others would have become safe queens. First hunt with it I took my first black bear. Here is a link to the thread when I first bought it. I have since switched the scope to a Leupold VXR and switched out the bottom metal to a hinged floor plate version off a 116 bear hunter as I don’t like detachable mags on a hunting rifle.

Great stuff Mossy... thanks for the link to your earlier thread. First black bear - that's the right way to christen a hunting rifle.
Your 30-06 appears nearly identical to mine. However... what is interesting, while it is essentially the same rifle, it lists as a 116 Classic.
Mine is data stamped Model 114 , stamped on the Stainless fluted barrel. A bit of a puzzle... not a common bird it seems.

Either a special run for a distributor/big-box store or it came out of the custom shop.

Thanks Jim
I appreciate your feedback. I am leaning towards this being a special run for a distrib, as there are 2 other stainless fluted 114s I have seen, and all 3 incl mine, were purchased here in Canada.

No brake, the muzzle end is straight unfluted. The crown is typical of SS barrels.

Love the classic and that's a great looking example.
