Anyone out there using AMax for varmints ? Was thinking the .244 75 gr., Hornady has them listed primarily as a Match bullet but, elsewhere I saw them list as Varmint.
Just wondering. Thx
In the 223 I use the 75 Amax in my Savage model 12BVSS, I don't recall any getting away. they do the damage out to 711yds my longest with the 223/75Amax combo. at 500 yds meat is all over, a skunk at 628yds he was looking in a hole for a mole and he lifted his tail, and I put an Amax right where he poo's never moved an fraction of an inch. velocity is right at 3000fps, give them a try
Chet
PS I am now load testing some 105's in my 6BR,

75 gr. AMax, it's all I use in my 1-8" 22-250 anymore. I see no need to switch back to 55's anytime soon!

I have used the 50 gr in my 221FB & 223 Rem for Prairie Dogs and they work fine. They just don't have the "splat factor" that the V-Max does.

PS I am now load testing some 105's in my 6BR,
Could you send me a PM with the results, I was looking at some 105 A-max's in my 1 in 8" twist BR.
Let me know how they go.
I've also got some 105 match bt's - berger.
Which arn't suitable for hunting going by the box, but will probably save for comp
