I have a .308 Savage short action with DBM and i want to convert it to .223 with DBM. I know the bolt head/barrel must change. I plan to buy new .223 mags but will they fit the SA ? IS the .223 magazine opening the same size as the 308 with just the feed lips smaller for the smaller cartridge ? are there any 9 or 10 rd mags for .223 Savage yet ? help

I can't answer your question as I don't own any DBMs. Maybe "Sharpshooter" will chime in, he will know.

I don't know about the older dbm guns but the new ones should fit just the same. The only difference is the feed lips on the top of the mag. If I am wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

The bottom metal is the same on sa the mags fit from 223 or 308 the 223 just has a space in the back

There won't be a space that is taken up internally in the mag, it will look like the other mag
