First post, sorry if this is in the wrong place, thanks for having me.

Hadn't been into bolt guns in years and bought a Savage M11 308 Hog Hunter almost 2 years ago for a steal when Gander Mountain was closing a nearby store. The rifle has been sitting in its box since, but I think it's time to dust it off.

When looking around at stocks/bases/parts I've come to realize the Savage line-up is a bit confusing to a n00b.

My rifle is a center-feed short-action, correct? I know it's right-handed and side bolt release. It's based on the 110 series, correct?

What's a good one-piece scope base for my rifle?

What's the cheapest I can get a new stock/chassis that accepts AICS magazines? The stock on there needs to go. Anything cheaper than this? https://www.eabco.net/Savage-Detachable-Magazine-Conversion-Stock--Short-Action_p_15372.html

Any other stock options I should take a look at?

I'm not looking to dump a ton of money into this (yet) but would like to get it to something I'm comfortable with getting into some longer-range shooting so I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Most guys go to Boyd’s for their stocks... to get aics mags, you gotta get an aics bottom metal
... you’re talking minimum 4-500 dollars for those two...

hopefully others will come along and offer better advice as I’m a newer savage guy too... but love my hog hunter!

Welcome Plumber.

There are quite a few options out there. This one is the one that the Savage Stealth Evolution is based on:https://mdttac.com/products/lss-chassis-system?variant=42964274950
(https://mdttac.com/products/lss-chassis-system?variant=42964274950)It is $399. I am very happy happy with mine. Not so much with the Butt-stock (Magpul PRS Gen 3) that the new BA Stealth Evo. comes with, so I upgraded and went with MDT's Skeleton Rifle Stock V5-Short for $289. https://mdttac.com/products/mdt-skeleton-rifle-stock-v5?variant=1253851922438 I also added the MDT folding butt stock adapter for another $150.00. https://mdttac.com/products/folding-stock-adapter
(https://mdttac.com/products/folding-stock-adapter)
Unfortunately my choices aren't very "Cheap", but the result is very solid, well made and accurate. Though it is a little on the heavy side. As finished, with a full Mag, 2lb LR scope and Magpul Bi-pod it weighs right at 16lbs. Not built for stalk hunting in the Rockies...

MDT's subsidiary Oryx is taking advance orders for a one piece aluminum (complete with stock) chassis for only $399 which is cheaper than the EAB solution you mentioned. In kcb38's thread http://www.savageshooters.com/showthread.php?62695-Possible-new-budget-chassis-offering-Oryx-from-MDT which is where I learned about it, the link for it is https://oryxchassis.com/?SID=dog1qkrs71e84uf4175hfu5ck4
(https://oryxchassis.com/?SID=dog1qkrs71e84uf4175hfu5ck4)
If don't want to go the chassis route probably this B&C for $520 is a better quality stock than the EAB http://www.bellandcarlson.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=1087
(http://www.bellandcarlson.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=1087)
If in the end it is all about the $ you might like one of the other B&C stocks for Savages http://www.bellandcarlson.com/index.cfm?category=1040

I'd sell the Hog Hunter and purchase the current Savage 110 Tactical. It would be more cost effetive/cheaper than converting the Hog Hunter. The 110 Tactical already has what you want; Accufit-Accustock, ACIS bottom metal, 20 MOA 1- piece EWG rail and threaded muzzle.

I’d go with the 110 tactical also... but I’d keep the hog hunter!

Thanks for all the replies!

I think I like that Oryx chassis best out of the options listed. Not sure how I'll end up.

That 110 Tac is pretty nice, but I'm not sure I'm going to sell the Hog Hunter though. I'm not new to firearms by any means and know I like tinkering, building, and assembly/disassembly. I wish Magpul just made a stock for Savage rifles but after trying to sort through the options I understand why they don't.
