Savage Mark II scope question

Has anyone mounted a Nikon prostaff rimfire ii scope on a mark ii 22lr ? It's a 3-9x40. My main concern is the bolt will not clear the bell on the scope, all the reviews I've searched had them mounted on autoloaders, the rifle currently has a Simmons 4x32 that I really liked but it's having fogging issues.

Mine easily clears and the scope is slammed down just above the barrel...

I don't have the Nikon but my scope is bigger than the Nikon and I have no issues at all.

There is something bad wrong somewhere if you are having that issue.
