Looks like it was made in 1903. Very nice rifle! .303 is a fine round, mine shoots heavier RN bullets the best, they also feed better!http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm

BigAl1- I saw the same result searching and couldn’t really believe it was 1903. The condition it’s in is ridiculous, no nicks or any mechanical issues yet to be found. Only have a small blemish on the blueing about 1/4” round. The barrel rifling is clean and the action works very smooth. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181125/73b96c511143520a0c6e0c704d380961.jpgIf this is all original I’ve been given a beauty of a rifle from my brother for sure! Still a great rifle regardless lol!!

I must have cost them a fortune. Or is it a family relict? That’s a very old riffle. You should save it and pass it on to other generations.
Your family must be really lucky if they find gifts like this. It’s not a typical gift because I barely know people who would give a firearm to anybody. At least, I haven’t met anyone who would do something like that. Especially antique like this one. They must really love you to give you a special gift like this. Because I usually get a gift basket (https://www.jetgiftbaskets.com/) instead of firearms and ammo.

Nope.

By serial number it dates to summer of 1901. Model 1899C, half-octagon.. very nice!
