I have been looking for a 1 piece steel scope base which will fit my wife's savage lady hunter 7mm08 rifle. I believe this model rifle is a Savage short action so any Savage 10, 12, 14...etc base should work. When I googled bases the below base came up. they are budget friendly at 50$ but state they are for a Savage axis. Do any of you know if it will fit? If not, Can you suggest another rail to look at which is not really tall adding to increased scope height? Thanks!

I am going on memory here, but I think all the axis are long action.

No, the Axis and 110-series S/A and L/A all have different base lengths. 2-piece bases are interchangeable between all three, but 1-piece bases and rails are specific to each.

Any of these listed here should work for your wife's rifle (Savage Model 10 Short-action 4.40"):

Last I remember all Axis are built on a long action receiver and wont work on a model 10 based rifle. I sold my Axis years ago but seem to remember there being different screw spacing front to rear for Axis than 110 long action too.
I have put a few rail type mounts on savage 10/110 rifles and they all seem to either set up too high (especially EGW) or be too long in the front so that the objective bell hits the rail if I move the scope back far enough to fit me. Also the one piece bases limit clearance and access to the ejection port, even the Leupold standard style 1 piece base with the cutout does this to an extent.

Personally I prefer and would reccomend a Leupold Dual Dovetail style 2 piece setup. Especially if I'm mounting a scope I don't need or intend to change out anytime soon. Priced right, rock solid, super tough, and no room for wiggle or getting knocked out of whack no matter what you do to it, it's one of the most solid trouble free setups there is.
In my opinion a quality 2 piece setup of proven design will provide better ejection port access for single and/or top loading, cleaning etc. than a rail and is just as, if not more so solid and reliable.
Just thought I'd throw out a suggestion.
Good luck
