i get a new Savage LRPV 223 with a 7 twist, been hearing alot of good reports on shooters have excellent results with the Sierra 80 SMK's, i have tried a few different bullets so far and was hoping the 80 smk would group the best, actually the Hornady 80gr Amax with 24.5 Varget shoot the best, and i am on my last 100 pcs of Amax 80"s, they are discontinued, i went thru a box of 50 Sierras 80 smk's, tried Varget, H4895, RL-15 IMR 4320 most loads were touching lands, anything else to try going to get another box of 50 before i give up on them, i did try the Berger 80.5 they were good also, did not try the sierra 77 TMK yet. wonder if the Sierra 90 gr SMK are worth a try.

What is your oal with the 80 amax? I have read good things about the 80 eldm. I currently have 80 grn nosler C.C., and Hornady 88's loaded for testing.

Sierra 77 TMKs and 69 TMKs shoot the best of all bullets that I have tried in my Les Baer Super Varmint .223 with a 1:8 twist 18 inch barrel.
I seat them out past the magazine length to 2.320 or more for the most accurate results but have to use a single round follower to get them loaded.

(Sierra recommends 2.260 but they admitted that that was recommended to fit in AR mags)
The TMKs shoot OK under 2.270 when I want them to fit in a magazine but they shoot best seated out.

My 1:8 twist won't stabilize 80 grains or higher so I have never tried them.
I would think that a 1:6.5 twist might be needed to stabilize a 90 grain bullet.
