For those who might be looking for factory ammunition for fall deer hunting season I highly recommend Winchester Deer Season XP. Built two 6.5 CM rifles this summer for guys that do not reload. In my search for accurate factory ammunition I tried out Winchester Deer Season XP in 125gr. In both those rifles, and in my "Old School" heavy barrel Savage flat back they have yet to stray beyond 1 MOA in three shot groups. Most groups hover right around .5 MOA. This is the most consistently accurate factory stuff I have tested.

Excellent advise! I didn't try that one, but found Hornaday American Gunner 140 gr BTHP that comes in a 50 round box to be remarkably accurate, well under 1 moa.

Tried the new Federal Gold Medal 130gr Berger. They were ok...but just ok nothing special accuracy wise. Some hunters in Wyoming and where my son is in Montana are using them on Antelope.

The 130 grain Berger VLD and RL-17 were an excellent combination for me. Just a bit temperature sensitive though.

I've shot the Winchester Deer Season XP in several of my rifles. It has shot well in all of them. In my Creedmoor it shoots right with the Hornady PH 143gr eldx. I really like that ammo.

Hornady 143 ELD-X shoots fine in my 6.5mm Creedmoor with IMR4350 powder averaging under 0.5 at 100 yards for 10 groups.
Hornady Precision Hunter 143 ELD-X factory ammo shoots about 6% less accurately.

That kind of accuracy would take down just about anything when east coast hunting. We don't get many shots longer than 100 yards in our woods.
