I bought this Western Field model 45 with a lot of 6 guns from a friend of my Father. After some research I was able to determine this was a Savage made rifle (a variant of the model 4?)
Anyway it need to be refinished, so I polished and reblued the steel parts, then added a soft rubber butt pad and refinished the wood.

For the record, I am not a professional gunsmith, I am merely a student of the art and a hobbyist.
