Hello everyone!!! I have a savage model 110 30-06 with picatiny bases milled into the receiver? Serial F461XXX Anyone ever heard of that?It is an older rifle with wood stock and made for hunting. Just curious if anyone has ever heard of it, or knows anything bout it? I can only find a few others on the net and I know they were made before Nov 1995 but that's about it... I would really like to know more about this rifle and how it came about... Here are 2 pics I found on the net of a rifle exactly like mine...

savage tried casting receivers and found they had a higher then acceptable loss from warping during heat treating. there are also some out there that have factory soldered scope bases.

That doesn't sound good..... Were they decent rifles? Bad??

They are OK from what I have read. If yours is accurate enough for your purpose, use it and have no fear.

I think was mostly an issue with the base alignment and scope adj. bolt race way ect... the accuracy was as good as any savage.

Ok then it is off to pillar bed and glass the stock so I can torque it down consistently!!! I took the stock off to lighten the 7 lb trigger and cannot get my groups to tight back up to their original 3/4" groups!

Make sure the barrel is not touching the stock.
