Looking for a drop in Savage barrel chambered for 7X47L ( same as 6 or 6.5X47L, just 7mm) Want 8 or 9 in 1 twist, 18 to 22 inch. More efficient than a 7-08 and I refuse to join the Creedmore Club.

PT&G has the reamer print. Eight weeks out i bet. There are several guys on Accurate Shooter who have done it and may have info on ho will do a barrel for you.

Also if you do not want a 7 Creedmoor because of the name, then go 7mmGPC.

Found a reamer and somebody to make a barrel. But it looks like dies may be the expensive part. Still researching and looking for hands on information. Have talked to several on the Accurate BB and finding reasonable dies is nearly impossible.

The 6.5x47 is no slouch for hunting at long range. I have a friend who shot an antelope at beyond 800 with his.
Granted it's an antelope, but you have to hit it first regardless. They are an extremely accurate cartridge and not that much smaller.
7mm has more heavy bullet selection, but without more powder capacity is that an advantage?
The same argument comes up with the 7mms. Lots of guys wanting to use 180s and 190s in the STWs and ultramags.
Weve proven that the 162 gr shoots flatter, (less clicks) out to 1200 yds than the 180s do. So whats the point to our using them?
Actually there isn't any, other than its what people choose to do mainly because of the BC number on the box.
