I have a model 11 in 270wsm and would like to get some information on powder type, bullet weight and overall performance. I've done a little reloading, but don't know which powders work best and what is the optimum bullet weight for this rifle. I have Barnes 130 gr, Berger 140 & 150 gr bullets.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Really like the H4831 in my 270 Win shooting the 145 ELD-X... was up around 2900 fps out of a 22" barrel. And anther powder I got good speed as well as accuracy was Ramshot Hunter.

If I'm not mistaken, the OP was asking about a 270 Winchester Short Mag.
The regular .270 is a great cartridge in its own right. It has different likes than a WSM does.

I am aware of the Win WSM difference... Was just throwing it out there as the H4831 was on the list... The Ramshot Hunter is just another "newer" powder that I had pretty good results with... The Hunter actually gave me better speed than the H4831... It's worth a shot or two IMO.

Those powders work very well in the .270 Win

I'm very heavily thinking about getting the Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP in the 270 WSM.
I think it's an outstanding long range killer of big game.
Plus, not too shabby at close range either.
