Bought a new Savage 110 Tactical 6.5 Creedmoor last week and went to the range a couple of days ago. Had 45 rounds of 123 SST's around that I built for an 6.5 Axis to shoot. 10 rounds cleaning between every shot, five straight then a good mopping. Then I settled in and put 4 rounds into 1 hole at 100 yards, .260" group size. Not match ammo, nothing special, just put together for another rifle to practice shooting. Wow, can't wait to put some time in on the reloading creating the magic load. Does Morgantown, WV. have a rifle range within 50 miles, a question for anyone that lives in that area? Thanks.

Sounds like you got yourself a shooter.

As for a local range, a quick Google search shows there's several WV DNR run ranges in the area but most are just 100yd ranges. There is a 200 yard range at Pleasant Creek WMA about an hours drive south of you though. A better option would probably be to just ask around at a few local gun shops or sportsmen clubs - they'll usually know every range in the area and be able to steer you towards one that has the features you're looking for if one's nearby.

Not in West Virginia yet but in a month or so. Lived in Montana most of my life where you drive up any logging road, hang a target, and shoot. In Missoula we have 2 first class ranges within 5 miles of the city, 1 has a lane that goes out to 1000 yards. And yes I think the new Savage is a real shooter, goes with my Model 12 .223 and my Model 112 .204R.

Stonewall Jackson lake has a 300 yard range about 1 hour south on I 79 also I understand near Weston WV also about 1 hour south on I 79 there is a range called White Horse that you can shoot 1000 yards, but I don't know the particulars.
