New to the forum. My first post. I have acquired a Savage 99 in 30-30 made in, according to serial # 35.020, 1904. Just wondering if I can get some opinions on what my 99 might be worth with new bluing and new stocks might be worth? I do know that restoring the rifle will lower the value, But the rifle need it. Rifle did not have a butt stock. Mechanically the rifle is in excellent condition. Thanks for any info.

Sounds like a good project. You'll find a lot of vintage parts on E bay, stock, butt plates, etc. New wood do a goggle search, there's an outfit that produces Savage stocks, but I can't remember the name and my wifi here sucks. Value is hard to determine since it won't be original, but should be a good shooter, maybe $400-$600

I paid $460 for my 90% completely original M99 .30-30. Apparently, the .30-30 doesn't excite collectors of the M99. Their loss...
You have a fine rifle there! My is exceptionally accurate, 100% reliable and is absolutely not fussy about what I feed her. If her mechanics are in good shape, she'd be worth some nice custom wood. I would leave the metal finish alone. A rifle with a little history showing is a very nice thing.
