I was going to create a poll that would let me analyze your responses, but I'm not seeing the option of doing so.

I'm looking for a stating place. I realize each gun is a particular entity, but I reload and any fine tuning has to start somewhere. What ammo do your Model 16 .308's like? I just bought two of these, one for my son and one for my daughter and I need to get them ready for hunting season.

Thanks in advance.

I've had really good luck with Hornady 178gr ELD-X. Extremely accurate and designed to expand.

Following this thread as I also have a model 16. I've tried several different bullets of various weights, and two different powders already. I'll try to upload my load data this weekend.

Both a 16 scout and an fcp-sr and both liked the heavies. I had good luck with the 185 Berger classic in both but the fcp-sr loves the 180 elite hunter. I tried the 168 classic in the scout because of the 18" barrel and they weren't bad but not as good as the185

I don't going with mine, but mine will do groups at 3/8" at 100. It also loves the 168 that Savage tests with.

I've got excellent accuracy from a couple different Savage's with Federal Premium's 165gr Nosler Partition #P308A1.

Federal makes very accurate ammo. The Nosler Partition isn't a bad option either.
