Choate Tactical Stock for Savage 110 Long Action - Problem

I built a 30-06, Savage Long Action, stagger feed, 27 inch bull barrel, Rifle Basix Trigger. Sightron SIII 8-32X56. Burris Signature Zee Rings.
I used Northland Shooter Supply Recoil Lug and Barrel Nut.
I now have a Choate Tactical Stock for the Long Action, Stagger Feed. When I mount the barreled action in the Choate Stock, the barreled action rocks in the stock with the recoil lug the high point. When action is screwed into the stock it places a bind in the action. The bolt hangs up midway in the action channel.
What can I do to get this action seated in the barrel without putting a bind on the action?

Without touching the flat wall nearest the action open up the recoil lug slot so it sits like it should.

Here's what I would check;<>*
Was the stock bedded previously?
If so remove bedding material causing interference. New bedding is recommended.
If no bedding remove interfering stock material under and on sides of lug (not on the rear side). Again new bedding is in order.
Third thing you can do is remove a small amount of material on the bottom side of lug.
Last the northland lug has a pin that centers it. The pin should insure against the lug being tilted. Check this to make sure that one corner of the lug isn't holding the action up.

Is the bolt getting caught in the action screw or is it binding on the action its self

I tried to take out material under the, all the way to the metal. The lug rests on the metal. Lug rests too high.

Sounds like your recoil lug cut isn't deep enough and your action screws are too long.

The shear strength of a lug is all important at the intersection of itself and the reciever. Go ahead and trim as much as you need off the bottom. It should't hurt a thing. You can mill it, saw it, file it or grind it (taking care not to get it too hot).
This should also clear up the bolt binding.

The recoil lug bottoms out on the aluminum bedding. Can't go lower. I don't think I can cut the recoil lug.

Bottom line you should be able to find some one to shorten your lug.

Sounds like you might have got a stock intended for an accustock model, but have a standard recoil lug on your rifle.

I have found this issue with aftermarket stocks and lugs. My solution has always been to measure the depth of the recoil recess and remove material from the base of the lug to fit. If you must use a grinder, quench often to keep the heat down.
