I have a Savage 220. I can not seem to find and sabots that will pattern worth a darn. Tried Hornaday Superformance this morning and again, pattern is so inconsistent. Any sabot suggestions? Or how about slugs? I know it's a rifled barrel but, I'm tired of wasting the money on sabots. Tried the Hornaday SST as well. No luck. Please help!

Try the Lightfeild 2 3/4" sabot, or the Rem. 2 3/4" or 3" copper hollow point sabot slugs. They were/are the only ones that will group out of mine at 100 yards.

I should of said there are 8 shooters in my club with the 220 bolt action shotguns and they are all getting excellent results with the 3 inch accutip .....sorry if my other post was confusing

3" accutip is the best. I added some lead shot to the stock to bring the weight up and recoil down.

Put a limbsaver recoil pad on it .......I filled a small bag with about 2 lbs of shot stuffed it in the stock then used great stuff to fill the butt stock......this gun does not kick no where near my savage 212 f or my Mossberg 695.........,on those 2 I have the limbsaver installed and I also use a slip on limbsaver too ..

I put mine in a Boyd's laminate and it kicks like a mule.

I put mine in a Boyd's laminate and it kicks like a mule.My concern isn't the kick rather, it's the performance. I was assuming that I had to use 3". But you believe that the 2 3/4" would be okay to use?

it is like a 357 magnum you can also shoot 38 special the 220 was designed with a chamber to accomodate 3 inch sabots the good thing is 2 3/4 will work also.....one of my 220 shoots the 3 inch winchester the best but will shoot the accutip very accurate ……..out to 110 yds it opens up after that my older 220 will shoot very accurately out to 145 yds after 145 it opens up a bit

In mine 2 3/4" shot equal to 3" at 100 yards. At 200 yards the 3" will shoot about a 3" group while the 2 3/4" were around 8".
