Can I swap bolt heads on these actions?

OK, here's the dilemma - I purchased a Savage 111 in 300 Win Mag. It's a long action of course. I want to convert this into a 6mm BR, or maybe downstream a 6.5x46 Lapua. Anyway, I'm looking on Midway for a replacement bolt head but can't find one for the long action which will fit the base of a 6BR. I know the 6 is the same as a .308, but all the bolt heads I find for .308 say short action. Did I screw myself by purchasing the long action in 300 Win Mag? Can I purchase the .308 bolt head for the short action and use it on the long action bolt?

This is going to be one hell of an interesting learning project!

Get a bolt head for a 30-06. same as a .308.
