Hello everyone,

I am a new member. I just picked up my first savage. Consequently my first long range gun. It is a Savage BA 10 Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor. I am considering a Burris XTR II 4-20x50mm.

I need some help with the mounting solution.

I am thinking a 20 moa mount would be a wise decision would this still work with shots inside 100 yards as well as obviously the longer shots. I assume so but am not at all familiar with the ballistics of the 6.5.

That said, would 1'' mounts work with this scope / rifle combo or would I need to step up to a 1.5''. How tall is the rail from the top of the barrel? Thanks in advance.

With the 34mm rings, you can use lower than 1" with a 20 MOA rail.

Picked up a 10 SBA 6.5 Creedmore at Dick's in Tucson last week. It paid to wait, price drop from 549 to 480. Also found a Diamondback on sale. Now to Boyd's! Does anyone have advice on where to get a magazine for Axis II made up, btw?

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking about using 20 moa rings, such as the Burris XTR Signature Rings. That way I can use the installed rail. What are your thoughts? https://www.burrisoptics.com/mounting-systems/rings/xtr-signature-rings Burris lists the objective lense diameter as 58 and the clear objective lense diameter as 50. I assume that the 58 is the important one? 50 is simply the glass? Does anyone know how big the scope caps are? I am using this at the moment, no idea if it is accurate. I hate to order rings that wont fit. http://www.mil-rad.com/scope_ring_calculator
