Savage 220D 16 Ga bbl date?

My father gave my a Savage 220D 16 Ga on my 8th bday back in 1989 and have recentkybtaken it out to take it down and clean it. Upon removal of the forearm, I noticed a “B” over “LI” on the underside of the barrel. As for the date of mfg, would I go by the letter B (1951 mfg)? Thanks in advance.

B would be a 1950 manufacture.

Is the gun stamped Utica, NY; Chicopee Falls, MA; or Westfield, MA?

Utica would be 1947 or earlier
Chicopee Falls would be 1948-early 1960
Westfield would be 1960 or newer.

IIRC the Model 220's were made from 1938 thru the 1970's.

1950 should be correct as it is a Chicopee Falls marked shotgun. Thanks!
