Already put my axis in a better stock that is puller and glass bedded, also put a new trigger in it. I want to change calibers to shoot long range on the cheap and swap calibers. I have a savage lrp 6.5 creedmoor so I want something able to shoot beyond 1300 yards.
Questions:
1. can I change out the bolt face to a .532 and rebarrel to a 7mm saum or 28 Nosler?

2. If not what caliber would you choose with the .308 bolt face? Was thinking 6.5 prc or 280 ack. Imp.

RE 1: ??

RE 2: Check the wind drift at 1300 - 1500 yards for the loads you might consider for each of the choices. The cartridge with the least drift is the cartridge to go with.

CAVEAT: Go with the cartridge with the least recoil when the drift difference is less than about 1/2 MOA. One’s ability to shoot precisely is better served by reduced recoil when the drift is within the likely accuracy envelope.

Personally, I would go with the 280 AI. It is nearly 7mm Mag performance, and will work great in an Axis.

As a side note, my brother shoots 1 mile with his 6.5x47L with 147's... so I am sure you could with the 6.5 Creedmoor.
