Hi all,

Wanted to take a couple minutes to introduce myself. My name is Isaac, I live in SE PA, and recently purchased a 110 FCP 300 Win Mag. Savage was the first rifle I owned (and still have that 93R17 FV) and have always been a fan of the value and accuracy the brand is known for.

I have a 26" CBI Varmint 7mm Rem Mag 1:8T on order, along with recoil lug and barrel nut, with James from NSS and looking forward to putting together my first rifle dedicated to longer range endeavors. Wanted to get an idea of what you guys are running in 7RM out of the 1:8T (Bullets, powder, etc). In my 9.5 twist barrels I generally run a 140 Berger VLD over RE22, I have a load that shoots great in every 9.5T barrel I have used it in, but looking for a little more info on what has worked for you guys. Looking at the 162, 168, 175, 180, and 195 offerings from Berger, Sierra, Nosler, and Hornday (VLD, MK, AB, ABLR, ELD, ELDX) and slower burning powers like H1000, just don't have much experience with them. I use Norma Brass or Winchester and typically a Fed 215M or CCI 250. Perhaps this is a discussion for a different part of the forum.

Will also have a new 300 WM 24" barrel for sale off the rifle I just purchased, it just hasn't been pulled yet, if anyone is interested let me know. Should be off and ready to ship by the end of July. I will put in the classifieds if it's not sold before.

I'm looking forward to discussing and learning from you all.

TGIF, enjoy your weekend if you don't hear from me sooner.

Regards,
Isaac

Welcome from Central Maryland.

Where do you plan on shooting longer range? I’m always interested in finding nice ranges within a few hrs of home.

Thanks, ToolAA

The closest public range near me that gets to 300 yards is about an hour north of where I'm at. Should be able to stretch the distance a little further on the private land I hunt. I will likely need to join a club or find a like minded soul with a place to shoot to have pity on me to get to 600+ yards.

I lived in SE PA for 64 years, over 60 in Bucks Co. from the lower to upper parts.
It was unlawfull to shoot any center fire rifle long before I left there.
Even the private clubs like Doylestown F&G were fighting battles over their ranges.
I believe Lehigh co. and probably others have similar laws regarding rifles.
There used to be a club near Palm, which is west of Quakertown where you could shoot to 500 yds at steel gongs.
But its been over 25 yrs since ive been there.
