I've got a Savage VLP in 243 and wondered if anyone here has tried the 105 VLD Bergers or anything else in that weight range? It's a 9.25 twist. Thanks.

I haven't tried anything heavier than Sierra's 100 gr GameKing bullet(1560). They grouped nicely @100 meters(.4-.8). However I have not shot them any father than 100 meters. I had 40 left and I used them to break in my barrel with IMR 4064. Not to mention I started out low and was working my way up. So I never really seattled on a final load with the 100gr bullet.

Alot of us have, and yes they will, all the way to 1000 yards.

Have not shot the Bergers yet, although I just bought a box to try. Mine likes a near-max load of H4831sc and 105AMAX's, if you can find them. It's a McGowen barrel, not a Savage.

I just bought some 105Amax's to try hopefully tomorrow. I also just found out that one of my customers has a 1000 yd range and am looking forward to seeing what I can do. At my home range I can only shoot 200 yds. Thanks for the info.

Forgot to ask which loads worked best for you guys and did you seat with a jump or close to lands? Thanks

I have the VLP 243 . . . 107 SMK's with 39.5 IMR4350 .010 off the lands puts them in the same hole!

Matter of fact, I don't care what bullet I am shooting, 55NBT's, 70's, 90's, it shoots them all!

PM an email and I will send pictures of my targets. I love the 243 so much I built a 6.0x47 Lapua (243cal) and I am developing loads for it!

I had a rem 700 VLS in 243 that loved 105 Amaxs with 40grs of H4350. I beleive it was a 1 in 9.25. It shot well out to 600yds.

I don't know if that 9.25" twist will stabilize the bullets, but here are my efforts with 105gr Berger VLDs in a 243 win with 1:8 Twist.http://practicalrifler.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1316
