I am looking for some input on reloading for my MSR 10 Hunter in .308 Win. 168 gr HPBT for paper punching and Nosler 165gr Accubond for big game. Mainly preferred powder, primers & brass. I have a Hornaday Lock n Load AP
Appreciate any tips.
Cheers

For that weight bullet Varget and imr4064 are popular. Just stay away from Hornady brass.

When I had a AR10 with a 16 inch barrel, used 4064 powder. Varget likes longer barrels so think it’s not worth it. You want the powder to burn up when the bullet is just leaving the barrel. I now have a 12 inch AR308 and use 8208XBR. Stout powder. Burns faster than 4064 and varget. Since each barrel is different, buy just one pound of different powders to try. Once you find your load, buy a 8 lb jug. Otherwise, buying 1 pounders with different lot numbers will require you to do load development on each 1 lb jug.

I have a DPMS G2, but it should be close with them both being 308 AR style rifles.
I have had really good luck and the best groups with AR comp and IMR 3031. I have tried IMR 4895, RL15, and I think some IMR 4064 with ok results. I keep going back to 3031 and ar comp.
All I have shot is 168gr bullets.
