Hi All -

It's been a while since I posted and I plan to spend more time here. I'm a regular at the Colt Forum under the same name.

I have a question about my Model 1907 #3607B, a .380 from 1913. It has the high polish finish and the word "SAVAGE" marked on the frame as shown below. However, Bailey Brower says the "SAVAGE" markings didn't start until #7000. Are there other known exceptions to the >7000 rule? I would post pictures but I see they can't be posted directly to the forum, at least not yet for me.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm a big fan of these high polish pistols.

I don't have my books readily available, however I do have a 1913 and a 1914 in .380.
A picture of your pistol would be very helpful.

I have a 3391B was actually produced in early 1914. Your serial numbers higher so I'm guessing it was produced in 1914 instead of 1913. I also have a nickel-plated 380 that was produced in 1914 and it does indeed show The Savage Banner on the side of the slide. If I had my book so I can confirm your year manufacturer but I'm not at the right location at the moment.

Unfortunately it appears that only hosted pictures can be posted on this forum.

Hopefully this will work (from the Colt forum):

I sent you a PM with my direct email address if you want to take some pictures of your pistol and send them to me I'll be glad to take a look at them. Also if you would take a very sharp picture of the Roll marks on top of the slide.

I still don't see any images of your pistol 3607B. I would have to agree it's very unusual to see SAVAGE on the frame in that serial range. I wonder if the original purchaser had to send the gun back to Savage for an issue with a frame issue and maybe they assigned a later production frame with the Savage logo and assigned it your old serial number. You might want to order a letter from Savage, it won't talk about that level of detail, but if the pistol was returned to Savage in those early years you can formulate your own conclusion as it will show it was returned on a work order and will show the work order number, that's all you'll be able to find out as they don't have the work order on file. They always recorded any returns in a work order number in the original ledger record for the serial number/model.
