Hi all, brand new 1st time savage owner here and excited to discover the forum. I purchased the Cabelas 10t-SR in 308 last week and plan to top it with an Athlon 6x24x50 scope soon. Could anyone tell me if the Warne medium rings are high enough to work with the 50mm objective and oversized bolt handle?

Compare the ring height measurement of a TPS medium ring to the same on the Warne. See how they compare. I use the TPS medium on a 50mm scope and have at minimum 3/8" of clearance. Maybe a little more. Sometimes I feel I could have gone with a low TPS and would have been alright.

Athlon might be a good place to start. It is all just circles.

Two systems of measurement on rings from the top of the rail; to the centerline of the scope or to the bottom of the tube.

Action: 34.29mm or 1.350"
Barrel approximate OD : 25.4 or 1.000"
Athlon scope tube: 25.4, 30, 35 mm. Radius 14.7, 15, 17 mm
Base height above the action" XX mm or XX"
Athlon Scope Objective OD: XX mm or XX"
Clearance you desire between objective OD and barrel: XX mm or XX"

You should be able to calculate within a 1/16th of an inch or 1.5 mm.

Many thanks to both of you for excellent advice! I just found the rings locally so I am not nearly as concerned since I will be able to easily exchange if their medium winds up being too short. At the time of posting I thought I would need to order online and was hoping to avoid return shipping. I look forward to getting this one up and running. I have wanted a bolt gun to use with my suppressor for a long time so this should be fun.

Medium height Warnes is what I use on mine with a Sightron SIII 6-24x50. Works great.
