working on a load that it is sort of working 6.5cm 41.2 h4350 140 nosler rdf. at 200yds i got a perfect horizontal group 5 shots measuring just over 1 1/8" trying to get some ideas on which way to go with powder charge a tenth or 2 up or down, i could try both, but from shooters experience what should i try next, the bullet is .010 off the lands.

Did you have a crosswind?

I run a .260 rem... I would move up .2 grains at a time if you are not seeing any pressure issues... I maxed out at 43 grains H4350 shooting the 143 ELD-X... I was getting 2750 fps for the first 400 rounds... Now I'm closer to 2800 fps maybe a tad over, as I trued my ballistic app last week... 1/4 MOA @ 450 yards. I set my load up at .004 off the lands.

What length barrel are you shooting?

42.5-43.0 is looking like a node for my 24" bbl, but I blew a primer at 43.5.

Thanks,

Rosewood

Rosewood,

I am running a 25" CBI chambered in 260 Rem Match... I found that 42.5-43.0 to be my accuracy node as well... 43 is MAX for me using Lapua brass.

For what it's worth the 140 RDF is the touchiest bullet I've ever messed with. Your barrel will either like it or hate it with a passion. I gave it 300 opportunities and could never get rid of the unexplained flyers. They will never have a place on my list again as they cause way too much frustration trying to get them shooting.

That sounds about right. I was hitting similar velocities as you with the 24". Always good to know my data is matching someone else's.

I had them running 2775fps in 6.5x47 with an SD of 1 and ES of 3. 2-3 out of 5 would go right where I expected them to go at 700yds. The other 2 in no particular order would be feet off the target to either the left or right with no predictability. I shot them in 1 match last year and placed 25th where I normally run top 5 on a good day and top 10 on a bad day. .010 Jump, .020 Jump, .050-.060 jump, and no change. Sold the other 700 I had left.

Chetc,
What brass are you using? Reloder 16 works well in my rifle. Have you tried an OCW test? Can be an eye opener. I think the closer to the lands you get, the more critical it gets for them to be exactly the same seating depth. I'm using 41.9 H4350, CCI 450, 140 grain Berger Hybrid Target .050 off the lands. This is in Lapua brass.
