Hi, I just purchased a fcp-sr in .308 with the 20” barrel. I understand that this specific rifle is pretty finicky with ammo and from what I have researched likes heavier bullets. I mainly will b using this rifle for groundhogs n secondarily for paper etc. I would like to know what factory loads have worked best for those of u that have this gun. I would love to have the $$ and time to sort this out myself but I unfortunately don’t (I have 3 kiddos 5 and under and a full time job etc..). Thanks for any help u can give me.

Trade it for a 223?
FGMM 168, handload your own

I already have a savage model 12 FCV in .223 and it’s a tack driver. I’m comfortable out to 350-400 yards with the .223. I got the .308 to reach farther. If I had hand loading equipment I would definitely be using it 😀

Like Robinhood stated.. Federal Gold medal Match (FGMM) 168 gr is always super accurate. If looking for something a little more affordable you can try Federal fusion 180gr or any federal premium stuff.

I have a fcp that will not shoot gmm no matter what I did. If I shoot federal American eagle it shoots much better. Hand loads were the real game changer though.

Good luck, once you find what it likes you will really love that rifle.

PPU 168 gr match green box is the most accurate 308 Ammo I have ever shot. Conograph show 4 FPS deviation. Really reasonable price wise.
