I'm new to the Savage platform, and I'd like some help, please.
Currently have 110 FCP HS 338 Lapua, and want a switch barrel in 30-378 Lapua or 300 Lapua. From what I've read so far making brass would be no problem for me, and it Seems like it would be easy enough to do the swap, my hang up is none of the barrel manufacturers I've researched offer a barrel in 300 Lapua Magnum. Anyway at this point, I've been searching for information trying to educate myself and source parts and equipment, but I haven't been terribly successful at it.

Is there anyone else here who is running a 300 Lapua that may be able to offer some direction, advice etc?
I Wanted to at least have a grounding in the subject prior to calling around to order a barrel.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Pretty sure most of the usual suspects making prefits will cut you a .30-338- did you call around?
The .300 Lapua is not available commercially to my knowledge.

No, not available commercially.
No, didn't call around yet.

Thought I throw my questions up here first and get a little more info before doing that, but that would be the next step

Thank you for your response!

This should help:

Probably a 1000 round or so barrel...and a good chunk of that will get used up on load development. Definitely turn a Pdog into a puff of red smoke lol

30-nosler
300 Norma

is what I would choose over the 30-338 Lap / 300 Lap.

Call or email some of the pre-fit barrel makers about the chambers they offer. Sometimes they don't put on their website all the stuff. I would assume 30 nosler and 300 Norma Mag ( NOT 308 Norma mag) would be more available than the 30-338 Lap / 300 Lap.

I am starting to realize not many if anyone has done this?
At least not recently.

Thank you very much for all your help and advice, guys!
