been shooting my savage 10t in 6.5cm, question i have is on the hold, trying to figure what shooters here find the best hold for accuracy, my buddy shoots the same rifle in the same caliber, he shoots it free recoil and gets decent groups at 200yds, i cannot get the same results shooting it free recoil, if i get a solid grip on the gun pushing it up against the stop i cut my groups in half, maybe some shooters can chime in on their best hold that they get consistent results.

It's kind of a personal thing and sometimes guns will tend to shoot better being held a certain way - they're kinda like women in that regard. Personally I generally can't shoot free recoil for chit and seem to shoot my best when I'm really bearing down on the rifle (tight grip, firmly pulled into shoulder, cheek firmly pressed into comb). Just gotta find what works best for you and your rifle.

My model 12BVSS in original stock with a EABCO 6.5 CM accuracy barrel behaves the same. I'm using a Caldwell Rock front rest with caldwell rear bag half filled with lead shot. Pull it into my shoulder with two hands and it shoots half minute groups. Anything less and it opens up to minute and a half. It's getting frustrating.

I too prefer a firm grip and pull it down and back into the bags and my shoulder when shooting from a bench.
