Hey guys, I'm thinking about picking up a model 11 scout. I just have a few questions about it. I'm new to savage, and bolt guns in general, so please bear with my stupidity :p

Will any short action model 11 detachable magazine stock fit the scout? The particular gun i'm looking at has a FDE stock, and i'd MUCH prefer a black or OD stock. I'm not having much luck finding factory accustocks - are they available anywhere?

Next question - is it possible to add a conventional rail to the scout, such that a normal short eye relief scope will work on it? I know this defeats the purpose of a scout rifle, but it would just be temporary - until I find a long eye relief scope that suits me.

Thanks for the help guys. I am hoping to pick up the rifle in the next week or so, and am beyond excited!

Yes, any newer (4.40" screw spacing) DBM stock will fit it.

Yes, you'll just remove the Scout Rail and rear peep sight and install the standard rail. Peep sight mounts using rear base screw holes, and Scout mount uses front two base screw holes + one in the barrel.
