I see flat top, round top, short or long action.

I believe I have a short action but what about flat or round top?

Any help would be appreciated.

Looking at an egw (sp?) with Burris Zee rings or a complete DNZ system. Thoughts?

I see that your other post states that your model 10 has an accutrigger, so it should be round rear. You have a short action since it is a model 10.
10,11,12,14,16 (all 2 digit numbers) signify Short action, 110,111,112,114,116 (all 3 digit numbers) signify Long action. The exception is the older models (which you don't have since you have the accutrigger), because all the older models were long actions with different magazines for the long or short cartridges.
I have heard great things about the Zee rings, and the EGW bases are recommended on here all the time. I have yet to try either, but it is in the plans. Do a search on here and see what you find about either.

My best advice I can give is pony up the $12 and become a full memeber. There is all kinds of information and a great classified section for memebers where you can ussually find good deals on all kinds of stuff to trick out your Savage.

Yep, you need a short action/round rear base.

The EGW bases are very nice bases for the price. They are also a site sponsor here, but they were recommended to others by most of us long before they became a sponsor.

As for the rings, I recommend the Burris Signature Zee rings, not just the zee rings. The Signature model has the plastic inserts that will not mar the scope tube.

Q: If I purchase the EGW picatinny base. My impression is that I am unable to use the Burris Zee Signature (or any other Weaver style ring) with that base. I don't see where EGW manufactures a weaver style base for the Savage short/round. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help
