Nikon p308 scope hight

Hi all I'm sure this has been talked about for ever but I just picked up this scope for my stealth and my local gun place is telling me I should be using high scope rings I want to use the weaver tactical which he sold me but it seems very high . it does seem comfortable with the cheek rest about 3/4 of the way up but should it be that high I feel like it doesn't look right just looking for advice before I tighten anything up was hoping for some feedback I'm going to be shooting 4. To 500 yards max thanks in advance

Ideally you want the scope to be as close to the barrel that you can get it without it touching... Sometimes one will have to have it set a little higher than that because of Bolt throw, or something that "prevents" setting the scope as low as possible.
